I caught up with Bellevue football player Jake Eldrenkamp Saturday to talk about the recruiting process, which has picked up recently for the lineman.
Eldrenkamp, who started for last season’s state title team and was a backup on 2009’s title squad, received a phone call from Oregon State coach Mike Riley last week, a conversation that ended with Eldrenkamp landing his first Pac-12 offer.
“It’s pretty exciting, especially lately,” the junior said. “I didn’t really expect it to pick up this early.”
Eldrenkamp also has an offer to play at Brown, in the Ivy League.
“It’s a great feeling,” he said. “I’m hoping it will (continue to) pick up. Oregon State, that’s still a great opportunity. I’d have no problem playing there.”
The college offers are exciting, but Eldrenkamp is already preparing for his senior season.
“It would be great to have a four-peat,” he said. “That’s what we’re working on. We’re just working hard in the weight room every day, getting our work in.”
