Class 4A and 3A high-school boys soccer rankings — Week 6

Special to The Seattle Times

There’s a new No. 1 in the Class 4A ranks.

And, it could change again before the regular season is over.

The Ferris Saxons of Spokane are the new leaders of the pack in 4A after an 1-0 win over chief Greater Spokane League (GSL) rival Mead, the No. 2 team last week, on Friday. It was the Saxons’ second shutout of the week precluding the big win with 2-0 triumph over University on Wednesday.

So, Ferris leapfrogs from No. 3 to No. 1 after the old No. 1 Bellarmine Prep fell 3-2 on Thursday to then No. 8 Stadium, now restored to No. 4 status.

In the midst of losses at the top of the 4A rankings, Skyline vaulted from No. 6 to No. 3. The Spartans are one of three unbeaten in the Top 10 of 4A.

Unbeaten Kentwood (8-0-3) cracks the Top 10 in 4A for the first time in 2011 after fellow South Puget Sound League (SPSL) member Emerald Ridge slips and falls out of the Top 10.

Jackson, at No. 4 last week, had a chance to move up the rankings but dipped to No. 7 after suffering its first loss of the season to Mariner 1-0 on Friday.

Glacier Peak and Shorecrest, the top two teams respectively in Class 3A, both kept winning last week. The No. 1 Grizzlies beat Meadowdale 4-0 on Tuesday and then topped Mountlake Terrace 6-0 on Friday.

Shorecrest downed Terrace 6-0 on Monday in its only game of the week.

Pasco dipped from No. 3 to No. 5 after suffering its second loss of the season – both to Eastmont of Wenatchee — on Saturday.

Camas climbed into the No. 3 spot and Sammamish hiked to No. 4, up two spots from the previous week. Bainbridge slipped from No. 8 to No.

10 with a loss and a tie last week.
