Class 4A and 3A high-school boys soccer rankings — Final

Special to The Seattle Times

With losses or ties from the top four teams in last week’s Class 4A rankings, there’s once again a shakeup at the top.

Combined with the fact that the No. 5 team last week – Ferris of Spokane – is facing significant injuries to its top forward and goalkeeper, the door is open for Beamer of Federal Way.

It means the Titans vault from No. 6 to No. 1 in the final 4A rankings before the playoffs begin in earnest this week. Beamer enters state play with a 15-0-3, and are the only unbeaten team in the Class 4A and 3A rankings.

Last week’s No. 1 in 4A was Jackson, which dipped to 16-2-0 with its second loss of the season to Mariner in the district title match. Still, the Timberwolves return to state for the first time since 2001.

There was also a subtle change at the top of 3A as Glacier Peak returns to No. 1 after beating last week’s No. 1 Shorecrest by a 2-1 shootout count in the Northwest District 3A title match on Thursday.

Shorecrest, now No. 2 again like most of the season, had handed the Grizzlies their first loss of the season 3-0 on May 2. No. 2 Shorecrest gets rewarded with its WesCo 3A success with a road trip for a first-round state matchup at No. 3 Camas on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Papermakers junior defender Wyatt Brown summed it up best to his local newspaper, The Columbian:

“As Coach said, it’s not the luckiest of draws,” Brown said. “But we’d like to get them out of the way as fast as we can.”

Camas eliminated Shorecrest, ranked No. 1 at the time, in last year’s 3A state quarterfinals 1-0.

With two wins, Bonney Lake vaulted from No. 9 to No. 6 in 3A in the final week of the rankings.

By winning the Metro title, Bainbridge climb back into the 3A rankings after one week out.

Below are first-round state 4A and 3A matchups, all scheduled to be played on Tuesday, May 17:
