Shannon Murray to coach girls soccer at Archbishop Murphy

Archbishop Murphy has announced that Shannon Murray will take over the school’s girls soccer program.

Here is the press release:

Archbishop Murphy High School is pleased to announce that Shannon Murray has accepted the position of head girls soccer coach for the 2011-2012 academic year.

He brings extensive school experience to the girls program and currently serves as the head boys soccer coach at Glacier Peak High School.

Murray guided the Grizzlies to the Class 3A state championship in 2010 — his first season at Glacier Peak — and followed up with a second-place finish in 2011.

Murray was named the 3A State Coach of the Year in 2010. He previously coached varsity boys soccer at Kamiak High School from 1997-2000 and currently coaches youth soccer teams in Snohomish.

He is a 1993 graduate of the University of Washington, where he played as a three-year starter. He enjoyed a five-year professional career in the APSL with Colorado Foxes, Seattle Sounders A League, Portland Pride, and Seattle SeaDogs.

He lives in Everett with his wife Mary and two daughters, Anna and Jaynie.
