Floriane Kameni wins long jump at AAU Junior Olympics

Floriane Kameni, who will be a sophomore at Bellevue High School this year, won the long jump in the youth division at the 2011 AAA Junior Olympic Games in New Orleans, La. with a jump of 18-11 1/4.

As a freshman, Kameni finished third in the long jump at the Class 3A state meet (16-9 1/4).

Hannah Cunliffe, who lives in Federal Way — I wrote about here in this story — finished fifth in the 100-meter prelims (intermediate division) with a time of 12.03.

Cunliffe set the national youth record in the youth division at the meet last year (11.86).

On the boys side, O’Dea’s Tatum Taylor ran a 10.87 in the 100-meter prelims (young division).

Matt Moran, who will be in ninth grade at Canyon Park Junior High in Bothell, took second in the long jump (youth division), hitting 12-5 1/2

I’ll keep an eye on how our locals competitors finish at this event. If I’m missing anyone, let me know. These athletes all compete for Seattle Speed Track Club.
