Auburn’s Cory English spent the first three years of his high-school career working against blue-chip lineman Danny Shelton.
They pushed each other during practice and, along the way, became Division I recruits.
Shelton is now a freshman football player at the University of Washington, while English is preparing for his senior season. In addition to stepping into more of a leadership role this year, the 6-foot-4, 290-pound lineman is making the adjustment from guard to center.
I was able to pull English away from a summer workout recently to talk about the recruiting process and the 2011 season. Here is what he had to say:
