MaxPreps to honor Bellevue football

The Bellevue High School football program will be honored by MaxPreps before the boys basketball game against Mercer Island at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

Here is the press release:

WHAT: Bellevue High School will be presented with the Army National Guard national ranking trophy as part of the seventh annual MaxPreps Tour of Champions. Bellevue finished No. 37 in the final rankings and is one of 50 schools being honored on this season’s tour. The presentation will be made at halftime of the boys’ varsity basketball game.

WHY: Bellevue completed a perfect 14-0 season with a 35-16 victory over O’Dea of Seattle on Dec. 2, 2011 to claim its fourth straight Washington 3A state championship. That’s twice that Bellevue has won four titles in a row and the school has captured nine of the last 11 football championships. Bellevue, which is a cumulative 77-6 (.936 winning percentage over the past six seasons) is one of 50 schools being honored on the seventh annual MaxPreps Tour of Champions presented by the Army National Guard. MaxPreps ranks more than 16,000 varsity high school football teams.

The school was also honored by the Tour of Champions for the 2006 season when it finished 14th in the final rankings.
