Maddie Meyers heading to Washington

This ran in Thursday’s paper, but I wanted to share it here on the blog as well:

Maddie Meyers, who has won 12 prep state championships in track and field and cross country for Northwest School, signed a letter of intent Wednesday to run for the University of Washington.

Meyers turned down scholarship offers from Oregon and Georgetown, both strong women’s track programs, to sign with the Huskies.

Last summer, the senior at the Capitol Hill school set a national high-school steeplechase record while qualifying for the World Youth Championships. She then placed sixth in France while breaking her own record.
