Ah, the Mighty Metro League!

Only eight girls basketball teams will be playing in the Class 3A state quarterfinals next week, and half of them are from the Metro. Franklin, Lakeside, Seattle Prep and Cleveland all won their regional-round games Saturday.

They join Shorecrest, Prairie, Kamiakin and University.

The pairings will be determined at Sunday’s draw. Don’t be surprised if at least Metro teams wind up squaring off in the next round. The only draw criteria is that two teams from the same regional cannot meet in the quarterfinals, so Lakeside can’t play Franklin.

The 4A qualifiers are Mount Rainier, Federal Way, Woodinville, Eastlake, Jackson, Skyview, Central Valley and Gonzaga Prep.

Top-ranked Lake Stevens is out, losing to a Skyview team that was very impressive. I covered that game, as well as Jackson’s win over Kentwood. You can read it here.
