Class 4A and 3A boys state predictions

I looked at the 4A and 3A boys state tournament brackets for a few minutes and, without breaking down the matchups, I made predictions.

Last year, I tried to analyze all of the teams and my bracket was a mess. I didn’t do well at all. So, I changed my approach this year. I made my picks purely on best guess — first glance.

Since the start of the season, I’ve been excited about the potential of Bothell guards Zach LaVine and Perrion Callandret in winner-advances scenarios. So I picked a quarterfinal upset.

I like the explosiveness of Mount Rainier sophomore Adrian Davis. So, another potential upset.

I think another game between Rainier Beach and Seattle Prep would be great for basketball in the state — even though it would be even better if a game like that were played at, say, KeyArena.

But that’s another story entirely.

I had fun with these predictions. Most people will disagree with me. But this year, in many ways, I disagree with myself. All of the teams still alive are championship contenders.

Both tournaments are wide open, so expect a wild finish.
