Class 4A and 3A girls state predictions

Those of you who know me probably think I chickened out, knowing how much I dislike making predictions of high-school events (people tend to think you are picking against their teams, rather for the one team you wind up going with to win it).

But, alas, I indeed have my picks for the 4A and 3A girls tournaments. And try as I might, I wasn’t able to replicate Mason’s neat, filled-out brackets he posted for the boys on Monday. Step by step, I am catching up with the now generation (hey, I’m blogging and tweeting, posting photos and video interviews now!), but I just didn’t have the time and energy to figure that one out. Hopefully I’ll figure it out (or get help) when it’s time to make the state softball predictions.

So, I’m doing this the old-fashioned way, format-wise. And in same cases it was almost like rolling the dice or picking a name out of a hat. I think the 4A tournament is especially wide-open. I really wouldn’t be suprrised to see any of the eight teams win it. Watch out if Skyview plays the way it did Saturday against Lake Stevens.

In 3A, I see Prairie and Kamiakin as the definite favorites, but Franklin is playing awfully well now, too, and any of those other Metro teams could get hot at the right time. Shorecrest and University have that poential, too.

But here goes:

Class 4A

Quarterfinals

Central Valley over Eastlake

Mount Rainier over Jackson

Woodinville over Gonzaga Prep

Federal Way over Skyview

Semifinals

Mount Rainier over Central Valley

Woodinville over Federal Way

Championship

Mount Rainier over Woodinville

Class 3A

Quarterfinals

Kamiakin over Franklin

Cleveland over Shorecrest

Prairie over Lakeside

University over Seattle Prep

Semifinals

Kamiakin over Cleveland

Prairie over University

Championship

Prairie over Kamiakin
