The Northwest Shootout has become an annual high-school boys basketball tradition since 1994, pairing the top senior players from Washington against their Oregon counterparts.
And the girls series started the following year.
But the event has been cancelled this year due to a lack of corporate sponsorship.
Al Aldridge, longtime Prairie girls coach, said he’s been told the series will resume next year.
“Too bad for this year’s seniors,” he added.
The Washington boys all-state games were last Saturday. I have yet to find any information on the official girls all-state game, so I’m not even sure if they’re playing one this year. I have received a flyer on the Washington/North Idaho all state girls games set in Spokane on June 23. There are three games featuring players from Class 1B through 3A teams (no 4A). I will post those rosters when they are announced.
And there still will be the annual Queens of the Court game on April 28, but it has been moved from Franklin to Lakes. Again, I’ll have rosters for that event when they are made available.
