Don Bartel steps down as Enumclaw football coach

Don Bartel has resigned as head football coach at Enumclaw after four seasons.

“I just feel like it’s time to move on,” he said.

The Hornets were just 1-8 last season and 3-6 in 2010, but went 12-8 in Bartel’s first two years at the helm, including a 7-3 campaign in 2009.

Bartel started a booster club at Enumclaw and played a key role in the renovation of the school’s home field, Pete’s Pool. He said he has been pleased with the efforts to improve both the academic and competitive standards in the program as well as the fund-raising efforts.

“I am leaving with all the confidence that the program will continue to prosper,” he said.
