Lake Washington athletic director George Crowder announced Friday that Brian Lund will return to coach the boys basketball program next season.
Lund started the 2011-12 season as an assistant coach, but when head coach Barry Johnson was placed on administrative leave in December, Lund took over head-coaching duties for the rest of the season.
Lund led the Kangaroos to a fourth-place finish in the Class 3A state tournament and was named The Seattle Times’ Coach of the Year.
“Brian Lund did an outstanding job of coaching our boys basketball team after he was named the interim coach on Dec. 13,” Crowder said. “Our boys responded well to Brian. Brian established a positive atmosphere, kept the team focused and prepared, and demonstrated professionalism and sportsmanship throughout the season. We are excited for our boys basketball program under the leadership of coach Lund.”
Lake Washington is dropping down to 2A, starting in the fall.
