4A and 3A high-school baseball rankings — Week 5

There were impressive performances throughout Class 4A and 3A last week.

Redmond’s Peter Hendron threw a perfect game against Eastlake. Beamer’s Matt Bower threw a no-hitter against Curtis. Kentwood’s Reese McGuire hit for the cycle against Jefferson, driving in seven runs and scoring five times.

Bellevue knocked off a pair of ranked KingCo 3A teams (Mount Si and Lake Washington) and Mount Vernon’s Chris McDowell pitched a perfect game.

Some of those performances proved the prominence of top-ranked programs. Others showed there is another group of teams making a case to get noticed. Redmond has won 10 straight and is now a bubble team, while Bellevue showed it can play with the best teams in KingCo.

McGuire’s performance showed the talent the top-ranked Conquerors have in 4A and McDowell’s perfect game only added to Mount Vernon’s unbeaten start.

There weren’t many changes in 4A this week. The top six stays the same with Marsyville-Pilchuck, Mead, Woodinville and Wenatchee filling out the top 10.

With a 12-2 record, the Panthers climbed into the rankings for the first time this season.

There is a new No. 1 in 3A with Seattle Prep jumping into the top spot. Mount Vernon is right behind the Panthers at No. 2.

Mount Si picked up its third loss last week, so the defending 3A champions fall to No. 3. Kennewick, ranked No. 2 last week, falls to No. 7, while Hanford, Kamiakin and Peninsula all move up.

There are two new additions to the 3A rankings this week. Camas enters the top 10 and Mountain View climbs back in.
