4A and 3A high-school softball rankings — Week 6

So, which 4A softball teams should I jinx this week?

The bottom half of last week’s rankings were a mess. In fact, four of the teams between Nos. 5-10 lost at least once.

Only Skyview and Marysville-Pilchuck continued to win, so both scoot up and now sit at No. 5 and No. 6, respectively.

Emerald Ridge lost to a pretty good Puyallup team and slips just two spots to No. 7. Puyallup, which fell out of the rankings last week after two losses to non-contenders, remains on the “watch” list, for now.

I wasn’t going to penalize Newport for losing to top-ranked Woodinville, but then the Knights lost to Bothell. So, they fall out and the Cougars hop in at No. 8, riding a seven-game win streak. I nearly kept Newport in at No. 10 (that would be three KingCo teams in the 4A rankings), but decided to go with Bellarmine Prep, which is on a 7-0 streak.

And Tahoma, which has won eight in a row, returns to the rankings at No. 9.

Fortunately, for me, the Class 3A ranked teams continue to make my life a little easier. The only team that lost was Sedro-Woolley, to a good Nooksack Valley squad. It was the first setback of the season for the Cubs, who slide from No. 6 to No. 8.

Here is this week’s try at the rankings:
