Catching up with O’Dea’s Tatum Taylor

Tatum Taylor didn’t plan on working out at the Barton Football Academy Combine Sunday at Peninsula High School.

So he didn’t bring his cleats. Once he was there, though, he decided to get timed in the 40 — barefoot.

Taylor was hand-timed at 4.21, which would be in the 4.3 range if timed electronically. Considering he didn’t plan on running and didn’t have shoes on, the time is impressive.

Taylor, who projects to a slot receiver at the college level, is a top-tier talent on the track and had scholarship offers from plenty of power programs. When it comes to football, though, the 5-10, 155-pound junior currently has offers from Purdue, Wyoming, Idaho, Utah and Washington State.
