Eric McCurdy, the athletic director for Seattle Public Schools, is involved in a project called the Seattle Unified Soccer League.
The goal is to bring local high-school students and special-needs students together through athletics, on the soccer field. So far, it has been an overwhelming success.
“The SUSL provided an opportunity to bridge the educational achievement gaps for our students within our high schools and this is a major goal in Seattle Public Schools (SPS),” McCurdy said. “When approached with the opportunity, I knew the Special Olympics program would be a success and that it would provide a great opportunity for our students.”
The Seattle Unified Soccer League is a partnership between Seattle Public Schools, Sounders FC and Special Olympics Washington.
I am meeting with McCurdy to talk about the program on Wednesday, but I wanted to share some information here on the blog.
