Bellevue receives preseason mention from Sports Illustrated

Sports Illustrated released its initial power rankings for the 2012 high school football season. While Bellevue didn’t crack SI’s top 10, the Wolverines were ranked in the “next five” category – or in the top 15 in the country.

SI also ranked Bellevue’s schedule as the 21st toughest in the country.

Bellevue opens its season on Aug. 30 against the Trinity Trojans from Texas. Then, on Sept. 7, the Wolverines play perennially tough Bothell.

In case you were wondering, here’s how the breakdown of the states with the most teams mentioned in SI’s preseason poll:

– Florida: 4

– Texas: 3

– California: 3

– Georgia: 3
