Skyline hires new head softball coach

Skyline announced the hiring of Ken Brooks as the school’s new softball coach. Brooks is familiar with the program having served on the school’s original softball staff as the JV coach from 1998 to 2000.

Brooks then returned to serve as Skyline’s head coach for the 2002 and 2003 seasons. In 2003, his team finished fifth at state.

“I’m excited to be back at Skyline and to grow the program,” Brooks said. “As a coach who was here at the start of the program, my goal is to bring back the Spartan tradition of a team that competes at the highest level.”

Here is the complete release from Skyline:

Skyline High School is pleased to announce the hiring of Ken Brooks as Head Softball Coach. Coach Brooks was on the original Skyline Softball coaching staff from 1998-2000 as the JV coach. He then served as the Head Coach at Bear Creek before coming back to be Skyline’s Head Coach for the 2002 and 2003 seasons. During those two seasons, Skyline teams were Academic State Champions in 2002 and finished 5th in State in 2003. Coach Brooks left Skyline after 2003 to spend more time with his young son. Most recently, he has coached both baseball and softball at the club level.

Coach Brooks brings a passion and excitement for the game and for the total experience that high school sports provides. “I’m excited to be back at Skyline, and to grow the program,” said Brooks. “As a coach who was here at the start of the program my goal is to bring back the Spartan tradition of a team that competes at the highest level.”
