Some high-school volleyball highlights from Monday

I think one of the marquee volleyball matches played Monday was between two ranked 4A teams, No. 4 Puyallup and No. 8 Kentwood. I’ll start with highlights from that one, then follow with others, based on information reported to The Times (and with a lot on my plate today, I will have to keep some of the info brief):

Puyallup 3, Kentwood 2

Maddie Davis drilled 23 kills as the Vikings came from behind for the victory after trailing two sets to one. They won 15-12 in the fifth. Makenzie March handed out 43 assists and the offense was also keyed by Braylie Jeffers (13 kills, 4 blocks, plus 10 digs) and Addi Picha (10 kills, 4 blocks). Lauren Hackett paced Kentwood with 16 kills.

Newport 3, Skyline 0

The No. 5 Knights rolled and didn’t allow more than 19 points in any set. Emmy Freed contributed 34 assists, 3 aces and 11 digs. Anna Crabree had 15 kills and 17 digs and Casey Schoenlein added 14 kills. No Skyline highlights reported.

Curtis 3, Mount Rainier 0

Sophie VanEssen led a balanced attack for the Vikings, ranked No. 6 in 4A. Kaysee Shaffer finished with 33 kills. Rachael Monahan supplied 10 digs for the Rams.

Holy Names 3, Seattle Prep 1

In a close battle between two ranked 3A teams, the No. 2 Cougars edged the No. 7 Panthers. All four sets were within four points. Courtney Pharr collected 15 kills, 13 digs and 6 aces for Holy Names, which also got 42 assists from Maddie Koh. No Seattle Prep details reported.

Eastside Catholic 3, Lakeside 0

Kat Towslee was a terror with 19 kills, 3 aces and 10 digs in a match I thought would be closer. The Crusaders are ranked No. 5 in 3A, but Lakeside had been playing very well. Hannah Christie put up 32 assists.

Issaquah 3, Woodinville 1

Leanne Scott (16 kills, 17 digs) and Lauren Alberg (16 kills) powered the Eagles with help from Rachel Baker (27 assists), McKenzie Bostic (19 kills, 3 aces) and Lindsey Ferguson (23 digs, 3 aces). Woodinville got 10 kills and 18 digs from Hailey Champan, 15 assists and 15 digs from Brooke Wiley and 7 blocks from Courtney Smith.

Garfield 3, Redmond 0

Olivia deVesci piled up 30 assists and added 4 aces, spreading the offense around. Whitney Nelson and Aiden Maloney-Bertelli had 8 kills apiece. Audrey Hyem led Redmond with 9 kills, 12 digs and 3 aces.

Roosevelt 3, Bothell 1

Frances Woods and Katrina Lane smacked 14 kills each and Sierra Schomburg put together 40 assists, 12 digs and 3 aces. Molly Rigden led Bothell with 25 assists and 13 digs with Meaghan Rourke getting 9 kills.

Eastlake 3, Bellevue 0

Anna Gorman had 6 kills and 11 digs, while Angela Pellicano combined 11 digs with 3 blocks and 3 aces for the Wolves. Bellevue got 7 kills apiece from Sarah Sells and Jessie Marvin, who added 10 digs.

Kentridge 3, Beamer 2

Lexi Nguyen logged 12 kills, Carly Manning contributed 28 assists and 3 aces and Ariel Woolfe adde 18 digs for the Chargers. Megan Huff was one of three Beamer players with double-digit kills with 22 (plus 3 blocks). Sophie Miller had a whale of a match with 41 assists, 14 kills, 10 digs, 4 aces and 3 blocks.

Kent-Meridian 3, Emerald Ridge 1

Only E-R details reported. Kateri Blodgette-Baker had 6 kills, 10 digs and 5 aces.

Auburn Riverside 3, Graham-Kapowsin 1

Brenna Bruil was a beast with 18 kills, 4.5 blocks and 14 digs, while Lexi White added 20 assists and 10 digs. For G-K, Kayla Langu logged 8 kills and 6 blocks.

Rogers 3, Tahoma 0

Kelsea Meyers handed out 32 assists, most of them going to Colby Barnette (14 kills) and Whitney Riffle (13). Kylie Eager had 7 kills and 2 blocks for the Bears, who also got 15 digs from Natalie Burdulis.

Bethel 3, Kentlake 0

Courtney New posted 14 assists for the Braves.

Federal Way 3, Jefferson 1

Lauipou Lologo keyed the victory with 14 kills, 12 assists and 17 digs and got help from Autisia Westerlund (13 kills, 18 digs, 3 aces). TJ’s biggest stats from from Leome Tanielu (6 kills, 13 assists, 7 digs).

Bainbridge 3, Bishop Blanchet 2

The standouts for Bainbridge were Lauren Sheehan (15 kills, 19 digs), Hannah Wagner (14 kills, 17 digs) and Kat Frickleton (10 kills, 3 blocks). For Blanchet, Natalie Robertson supplied 16 kills and 11 digs, while Allyson Ahern piled up 29 assists to go with 3 blocks and Sophie Beckley had an eye-popping 57 digs.

Chief Sealth 3, Franklin 0

Katherine Kirk paced the Seahawks’ balanced effort with 10 kills and 4 blocks.

West Seattle 3, Nathan Hale 0

Eastyn Baleto had 10 kills for West Seattle and Hale’s Anna Tale finished with a match-high 14.

Lake Washington 3, South Whidbey 2

Four LW players had 6 kills or more, led by Maddy Lind with 9 (plus 9 digs and 3 aces).

Interlake 3, Evergreen 0

Kendall Davis drilled 16 kills for the Saints.

Peninsula 3, North Mason 0

No details reported.

Oak Harbor 3, Arlington 0

No details reported.

Seattle Christian 3, Bellevue Christian 2

Megan Bryant belted 12 kills and Kelli Kumasaka dug up 58 balls for the Warriors. Laruen Miller led the Bellevue squad with 11 kills, 4 blocks and 3 aces. Katie Hoffman contributed 32 assists, 14 kids and 3 aces.

Seattle Lutheran 3, Bush 0

Another balanced effort with Hailey Meyers getting a team-high 7 kills.

Vashon Island 3, Chimacum 2

Only Chimacum highlights repored, with Lauren Thacker leading the way (14 kills, 3 blocks).

Life Christian 3, Eatonville 0
