Some high-school volleyball highlights from Wednesday

One of the most interesting high-school volleyball matches in the area Wednesday night was one that somehow didn’t get posted on The Times’ website (coach said it was reported). I found the results elsewhere and wanted to share them.

Young Emerald Ridge, which has a talented group of sophomores, knocked off fourth-ranked Puyallup, 3-0. Jenna Mullen pounded 12 kills and added 13 digs, while Megan Horton handed out 36 assists and Leia Roy contributed 16 digs. For Puyallup, Braylie Jeffers and Addie Picha had 10 kills each and Makenzie March finished with 23 assists.

Now on to some quick highlights from Wednesday matches that are on our website:

Newport 3, Issaquah 0

Emmy Freed put together 27 assists, 14 digs and 4 aces for the No. 5 Knights.

Skyline 3, Woodinville 0

Crystal Anderson was one of three Skyline players in double-digits in kills with 17 and added 12 digs and 3 aces.

Bothell 3, Ballard 0

Katie Arneson led the way with 15 kills. Ballard’s McKinley Kellogg had 18 assists and 11 digs.

Eastlake 3, Garfield 0

Anna Gorman got 11 kills and 9 digs for the Wolves. Garfield’s Bekak Louie dug up a match-high 19 balls.

Curtis 4, Federal Way 1

The No. 6 Vikings were led by Janell Spark (16 kills), Kaysee Shaffer (40 assists, 11 digs) and Taylor Buell 922 digs). Aya Bispham had 20 digs for Federal Way.

Kentwood 3, Mount Rainier 0

Talk about balance — the No. 8 Conquerors got 11 kills apiece from Lauren Hackett, Mele Halahuni (plus 13 digs) and Sarah Toeaina (plus 5 aces).Rogers 3, Bethel 0

Karlee Troeh and Colby Barnette finished with 11 kills each and Troeh added 15 digs.

Kent-Meridian 3, Auburn 1

Faith Faamausilli slammed 11 kills for KM, while the Trojans got big performances from Brooke Good (18 kills, 4 blocks, 23 digs) and Makaela Kindell (16 kills, 10 digs).

Kentridge 3, Tahoma 2

Lexi Nguyen set the pace with 11 kills and 4 aces and got help from Carly Manning (5 kills, 27 assists, 5 aces). Tahoma’s Megan Smith put together 7 kills, 26 digs and 3 aces and Kylie Eager added 9 kills and 5 blocks.

Kentlake 3, Jefferson 0

Sean Taylor had 6 kills and 4 blocks for the Falcons, while TJ’s Leome Tanielu put together 10 assists and 12 digs.

Seattle Prep 3, Bainbridge 2

The No. 7 Panthers rallied from a 2-0 deficit and got 12 kills apiece from Maddie Holman, Maddi Burnett and Phylly Knight, plus 42 assists from Kate Bubar. For Bainbridge, Hannah Wagner logged 18 kills, 15 digs and 3 aces, Maggie Haskin amassed 51 assists and 19 digs and Emma Burgess kicked in 40 digs.

Chief Sealth 3, Nathan Hale 1

Katherine Kirk keyed the win with 16 kills and 3 blocks.

West Seattle 3, Franklin 0

Eastyn Baleto owned the net with 21 kills (and added 3 aces), while Maddie Collins finished with 31 assists.

Redmond 3, Marysville Getchell 0

South Kitsap 3, Peninsula 2

The Seahawks fell short despite a solid performance by Emily Stavig (18 assists, 5 blocks and 5 aces).

University Prep 3, Seattle Academy 2

Anja Beard (13 kills, 7 blocks) and Malia Milici (8 kills, 33 assists) led the way.

Bush 3, Northwest School 0

Annie Wright 3, Overlake 0

Lani Lalalau had 10 kills and 15 digs, while Tori Smith added 11 kills and 3 blocks. Overlake got 19 digs from Carly Silvernale.

Cascade Christian 3, Chimacum 0

Jessi Walters set the pace with 15 kills and 5 blocks.

Life Christian 3, Bellevue Christian 0

Johnnise Moore had 9 kills and 5 blocks in the victory. For Bellevue Christian, Emily Stoppler supplied 10 kills and 13 digs.

Seattle Lutheran 3, Mount Raniier Lutheran 0

Brianna Phillips directed the offense with 21 assists.

Eastside Prep 3, Forest Ridge 0
