Some interesting KingCo football notes for Week 4

Former Times’ writer Matt Peterson still keeps tabs on KingCo football and provides some great details every week. Here are his notes and items from Week 4:

A couple of the more interesting ones:

* Skyline seeking first 4-0 start since 2008 when it went 14-0 and won the state title.

* Mount Si is seeking its first 4-0 start since 2005.

* The Issaquah Eagles have beaten the Knights six straight seasons. Newport’s last win against Issaquah came on Sept. 23, 2005, when the Knights won 46-43.

Now for the rest…

Ballard vs. Garfield

* Ballard is 8-2 against Garfield since joining KingCo in 2002.

* Ballard hasn’t started 0-4 since 2009 when it lost its first five en route to a 1-8 season.

* Garfield has given up 60+ points in consecutive games for the first time since joining KingCo in 1997.

Bellevue vs. Lake Washington

* Both teams are original members of KingCo. Since conference’s first year in 1952, Bellevue leads series 18-13-1.

* Bellevue enters with a 29-game win streak.

* Bellevue’s 69 points against Sammamish last week were the most the Wolverines have scored in a game since at least 1952. Their 69-point margin of victory also was their largest during that span.

* LW hasn’t beaten Bellevue since Sept. 10, 1982 when the Kangs won 16-6.

Bothell vs. Eastlake

* Bothell is 7-6 all-time against Eastlake. The last meeting between these schools was in 2007; Bothell won 19-13.

* Bothell has never been 0-3 under Tom Bainter. The Cougars have matched their worst start since going 0-9 in 1997.

* Eastlake’s next victory will be No. 125 for the program.

Inglemoor vs. Woodinville

* Woodinville is 17-11 all-time against Inglemoor.

* Inglemoor hasn’t been 0-3 since 1994. The Vikings have never started a season 0-4 under Frank Naish and haven’t been 0-4 since 1969.

Interlake vs. Mount Si

* Mount Si is 12-3 all-time against Interlake and has beaten the Saints in six of the past seven seasons.

* Mount Si is seeking its first 4-0 start since 2005.

Issaquah vs. Newport

* Issaquah is 24-23 all-time against Newport.

* The Eagles have beaten the Knights six straight seasons. Newport’s last win against Issaquah came on Sept. 23, 2005, when the Knights won 46-43.

Juanita vs. Liberty

* Liberty is 3-1 all-time against Juanita.

* Juanita’s next victory will be No. 200 in program history.

Mercer Island vs. Sammamish

* MI is 33-9-2 all-time against Sammamish.

* The Islanders have won nine in a row against the Totems dating to Sept. 20, 2002, when Sammamish prevailed 33-28.

* Sammamish has been shut out in two straight games. The Totems were last shut out three straight times in 1995, when they finished 0-9 and didn’t score a point until the season’s fifth game.

Redmond vs. Snohomish

* The two teams have only played once before, in 1998, when Snohomish beat Redmond 35-33 in the Class 4A state quarterfinals.

Roosevelt vs. Skyline

* Skyline is 3-0 all-time against Roosevelt (and has never lost to a KingCo city school — Spartans are a combined 11-0 all-time against Ballard, Garfield and Roosevelt).

* Skyline’s 71 points against Coeur d’Alene on Saturday were a school record (believe Max Browne also became all-time career passer in KingCo history – but need his official stats from Mat).

* Skyline seeking first 4-0 start since 2008 when it went 14-0 and won the state title.
