What to watch: A few football games to keep an eye on

There are always plenty of good games to go around, so here are a few more worth taking a look at on Friday. These games exclude our “top ticket” picks from Thursday’s paper, which you can read here if you missed them.

No. 1 Skyline at No. 10 Newport: A battle of top-10 teams and future D-I quarterbacks as Skyline’s Max Browne (USC) and Newport’s Isaac Dotson (Nevada) square off. Dotson will have to have a big game for Newport to hand the Spartans their first loss.

Puyallup vs. Graham-Kapowsin: Graham-Kapowsin’s only loss came against Federal Way, while Puyallup’s offense is capable of putting up a lot of points.

Arlington at Monroe: The WesCo 4A North division has been up for grabs all year. Monroe (3-3, 2-0) has a chance to settle into the driver’s seat with a win tonight.

Mercer Island at Liberty: The Islanders were upset by Juanita last Friday and could use a bounce-back win against 3-3 Liberty.

Oak Harbor vs. Marysville Getchell: Oak Harbor has put together a nice season to start the year, going 5-1 and 2-0 in league play. Getchell is 3-3 overall and 2-1 in league play, the first wins in the young program’s history.

Eastlake vs. Meadowdale: Eastlake continues its tough nonconference schedule (Seattle Prep, Lakeridge from Oregon, Eastside Catholic) with a game against No. 5 Meadowdale in 3A.
