The Highline School district made announcements Monday involving the head football coaching positions at Mount Rainier and Highline.
Tremain Mack, who was a late hire as interim coach at Mount Rainier this past season, will remain as head coach. The Rams won just one game this past season, 23-7 over Jefferson, but it was their first in the SPSL 4A North Division since moving up from Class 3A in 2010.
The other news is that Juan Cotto has resigned as head coach at Highline, which finished 1-9 this season, 0-6 in the Seamount League. The Pirates won their final game, 70-62 over Ingraham. Cotto took over the program in 2008.
Terri McMahan, Highline School District athletic director, sent the following statement:
“Juan worked very hard to improve the performance of our players both on and off the field. The standards of fair play and character modeled for those in and around the program were outstanding. Juan’s family needs him at this time and we are sorry to see him go.”
