Redmond football coach Jeff Chandler resigns

Redmond High School football coach Jeff Chandler has resigned after three seasons. According to a press release from the school, he is leaving to “pursue a career in school administration.”

Chandler went 7-21 in his three seasons at Redmond. He went 4-5 his first year but followed that up with an 0-9 season the next year. It was the first winless season in school history. The Mustangs gave up 43.8 points that year, the seventh-most allowed in KingCo history.

This year, Chandler and Redmond went 3-7, knocking off Eastlake, Ballard and Garfield along the way.

It marks the third football coaching vacancy in KingCo 4A. Longtime Eastlake coach Gene Dales resigned midseason while Inglemoor coach and athletic director Frank Naish resigned at the conclusion of the season.

Here is the full press release from Redmond about Chandler:

Jeff Chandler has tendered his resignation as the Head Football Coach at Redmond High School. Coach Chandler is leaving the position to pursue a career in school administration.

We are saddened to see Jeff leave us, but understand his reasoning and are extremely grateful of his service to the student athletes of Redmond High School. Though Coach Chandler was only our head coach for three years, under his leadership the program has grown to a record turn out for the 2012 season, meeting one of the main objectives of his hire. His efforts, and those of his coaching staff, have laid the ground work for a new coach to hit the ground running.
