Skyline linebacker Peyton Pelluer and Seattle Prep defensive back/running back Tere Calloway will play in the Semper Fi All-American Bowl. The game will be played on Jan. 4 at 6 p.m. at the Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif.
It will be televised on the NFL Network.
Skyline coach Mat Taylor, who led the Spartans to a 14-0 record and the Class 4A state title this year, will coach the West team along with Skyline defensive coordinator Don Bartel and receivers coach Kyle Snell. Kentwood coach Rex Norris is coaching the defensive line. All of the coaches got to fly their families down for the week.
“It’s been awesome,” Taylor said. “The Marines did it first class for everything that’s gone on with this trip.”
Pelluer was one of the leaders on Skyline’s defense. He battled injuries this year, but played some of his best football in Skyline’s two games in the Tacoma Dome.
Pelluer, who is committed to Washington State, finished his career as Skyline’s career leader in tackles with 389.
Calloway, who also missed parts of this year with injuries, is an explosive running back who had 200-plus yard games in back-to-back weeks this season. He will play defensive back in the game. He is still deciding where he will play in college, but he has more than 10 Division I offers.
Correction: A previous version of this post stated Mead’s Danny Mattingly was on the West’s roster. He is not.
