Tie-breaker scenarios in WesCo 3A and SPSL 4A for boys basketball

Here are the possible tie-breaker scenarios for WesCo 3A boys basketball, as detailed by Robert Polk, the Everett Public Schools director of athletics and activities:

“There is a chance that we will have a 3 way tie for the final playoff berth in the 3A boys basketball district tournament. It is dependent on tonight’s results of the Everett/Marysville-Pilchuck game and the Meadowdale/Shorecrest game. If both Everett and Meadowdale win we will have three teams with 3-10 records. After considering all of our tie breaker criteria, we have landed on having to play tie breaker games.

If there is a 3-way tie, Game 1 will be played Friday, Feb 1 at 7PM at Shorecrest HS. Game 2 will match the winner of game 1 against Everett at Everett on Saturday, Feb 2 at 7PM.

If Everett loses and Meadowdale wins, Meadowdale and Shorecrest will play a one game tie breaker on Friday, Feb 1 at 7PM. Everett will not advance.

Ticket prices are $5 for adults and $3 for students with ASB cards.”

And here are the SPSL 4A tie-breaker scenarios, according to Doug Aubert, the Auburn Riverside athletic director:

“- If Auburn and Tahoma tie for 1st: Tahoma won both head to head so is first.

– If Auburn and Kent-Meridian tie for 2nd: Auburn won both head to head so is second.”

And then…

“- If Jefferson beats Tahoma and Mount Rainier beats Kent-Meridian, they are in a three way tie. Mini game three-way tiebreaker.

– If Jefferson loses and Mount Rainier beats Kent-Meridian then the tie is Mount Rainier vs Kent-Meridian for third and fourth.

– If Jefferson loses and Kent-Meridian beats Mount Rainier then the tie is Jefferson vs Mount Rainier for fourth and fifth.”
