Renton won eight of the 14 matches to beat Renton School District rival Hazen 38-28 on Thursday night to claim its first Seamount League regular-season wrestling title since 1991.

It was the first title as a head coach for 22-year program leader Keith Eager, who graduated from Renton in 1983 and wrestled for the Indians. Eager, part of the Indians’ program for 29 years as a wrestler and coach, was an assistant when Renton took the crown in ’91.

Junior captain Abraham Cuevas (138) improved to 24-8 this season with a victory for the Indians.

Hazen’s Zach Moore (120), a state qualifier in 2012, improved to 23-7 with a pin and teammate Malik Haythorne (145) ran his record to 24-10.
