Follow the state basketball draws here

I’m at the WIAA office in Renton for the state basketball draws.

The actual draws are being webcast by the WIAA Network/PlayOn! Sports, and you can watch it here.

So that’s it! Check for back for coverage throughout the week — in the newspaper, on the web and on the blog. Should be some great basketball tournaments!

I plan to update the girls as we go and will also do the boys unless Jayson Jenks decides to do that separately. He’s on his way.

We are getting ready for the 3A and 4A draws, but it will probably be about 30 minutes before the actual draw for the 3A girls starts. So, stay tuned…

Jayson will be blogging the boys draws separately.

Now the 2A Boys Draw:

Sequim will play Renton and Burlington-Edison will play Pullman.

Anacortes will play Clover Park and West Valley (Yakima) will play Lynden.

Pullman is the home team for the 9 a.m. game.

1A Girls Draw:

That completes the 1A girls draw. The bracket is here.

Castle Rock is the home team for the 9 a.m. game.

Cascade Chrisitian is the home team for the 10:30 a.m. game.

Okanogan, the defending champion, is the home team for the 12:15 p.m. game.

Brewster is is the home team for the 2 p.m. game.

First up will be the 1A girls, then 1A boys, but the 2A coaches are sitting in, too, and we’re having everyone introduce themselves right now.

They are going over some of the tourney nuts and bolts, etc. — management-type information. The actual draw won’t start until about 1:30. The webcast starts then, too.

Looks like Renton brought its entire boys team, and several of the girls players are here, too. I always like to see that. Very cool to see both Renton teams here. The Renton girls made the regional round last year, but failed to advance. The last time Renton girls were in the final eight was 1987, when the team lost in the championship game to Garfield.

The draws for 2B and 1B girls and boys were completed a little earlier and you can find the brackets here: 2B girls, 2B boys, 1B girls, 1B boys.
