Girls: Cleveland 60, University 50

It looked like the second-ranked Eagles might be in trouble as they trailed 17-10 at the end of the first quarter.

But then then cranked up the intensity at both ends of the court to pull away with a 28-9 spurt to open up a 38-26 lead.

University got as close as seven points late in the third, but again Cleveland responded with Makala Roper tossing in a pair of threes to push it to 51-37. Roper finished with 22 points, while Myzhanique Ladd and Donniesha Webber each added 12.

Kayleigh Valley posted another double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds, but really wasn’t much of a factor.

Cleveland forced 27 turnovers.
