Girls: Mead 53, Skyline 33

Skyline scored the first two points of the game, and then it was all Mead.

The second-ranked Panthers (23-1) poured in 16 straight and led 22-3 at the end of the first quarter. It was 34-12 by halftime.

No. 8 Skyline (20-6) made only 5-of-34 shots from the field in the half — a meager 14.7 percent. They wound up shooting 21.0 percent for the game.

Colorado-bound Haley Smith was two-for-15 from the field and finished with just six points, although she pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds. Rachel Shim led all scorers with 16 points.

Mead had four players score nine or more, led by Ashlyn Lewey with 14 and Jade Redmond with 12.
