Makayla Roper scored 14 points as the second-ranked Eagles (26-2) stormed back from five-point deficit late in the third quarter to reach the Class 3A state championship game for the second time in four years or since they won the school’s first title in 2010.
Down 36-31 with 2:14 left in the third, Cleveland went on a 17-5 run to take a 48-41 advantage with 3:04 to play in the game.
The comeback victory sets up the third All-Metro League final in 12 years as the Eagles face fourth-ranked Seattle Prep (23-5) for the fourth time this season. Cleveland beat the Panthers the previous three times by a total of nine points.
The championship game is Saturday at 3 p.m.
Bellevue freshman Shelby Cansler provided 16 points, eight rebounds, three blocks and three steals. The Wolverines (25-3), ranked No. 5 in 3A, meet No. 3 Wilson for third-fifth places on Saturday at 11:15 a.m.
