Boys state basketball: No. 2 Rainier Beach 73, No. 8 Franklin 59

TACOMA – Rainier Beach used a 21-4 run in the third quarter to put away rival Franklin for the fourth time this season. Beach won 73-59 in the Class 4A state semifinal game.

Beach will play the winner of No. 1 Lakeside vs. No. 3 Lincoln at 5 p.m. on Saturday in the Class 3A state championship game. The Vikings are looking to repeat as state champions.

Beach and Franklin were tied at 33 in the third quarter before Beach exploding for a decisive run. Will Dorsey led Beach with 21 points. Arell Hennings had 24 for Franklin.

Franklin will play loser of Lincoln vs. Lakeside in the third-place game on Saturday.
