The eighth-ranked Grizzlies fell behind by 10 early in the fourth quarter, but back-to-back three-pointers by Allie Weathersby and Sarah Smith gave them a chance and they trailed just 45-41 when Kayleigh Valley came up with a big steal and layin to push it to 47-10 with less than three minutes to play.
Nicole Fausey’s three-point play cut it to 44-47 on a three-point play with 2:11 left, but Glacier Peak of Snohomish went scorless the rest of the way.
Junior Morgan Hawley sank two clutch free throws with 8.3 seconds on the clock to seal the victory.
Weathersby, a 5-9 senior, finished with a game-high 19 points and Smith added 12, going 4-for-8 on three-pointers. Valley led a balanced attack for University of Spokane Valley with 11 and added six rebounds, six steals and two assists. Four others added six points of more.
The Grizzlies finish the season 18-8.
