Gonzaga Prep 67, Inglemoor 59 (4th-6th places)
Junior guard Kayla Leland came off the bench to score 19 points as the fourth-ranked Bullpups (24-4) shot down the taller fifth-ranked Vikings (22-4) with three-pointers and free-throw shooting for a school-best fourth-place finish.
Inglemoor clogged the middle with their superior size, but Gonzaga Prep was solid from three-point land (7 of 16) and from the foul stripe (18 of 27). The Bullpups salted away the win by sinking 10 of 12 free throws in the final 3:21 of the game.
Sophomore guard Laura Stockton delivered 16 points, six rebounds and six assists for the Bullpups. She was 4 for 6 from the line late and Leland was 4 of 4 over the decisive stretch, which saw the Vikings claw back close twice.
Alex Hagen, a 6-foot-1 sophomore, supplied 16 points and hit a three-pointer to cut the Gonzaga Prep lead to 59-56 with 2:37 left and another trey to trim the gap to 61-59 with 38 seconds showing in the game.
Leland sank a pair of foul shots with 26 seconds left for a 63-59 cushion and, then after a Vikings’ turnover, Stockton nailed two more free throws at the 23.2-second mark. Chalayia Fuller couldn’t connect on two free-throw chances with 12.6 seconds to go and Lauren Weir hit two free throws with 10.1 to ice the outcome.
The sixth-place finish was Inglemoor’s first trophy finish at state.
Senior Kelly Conroy chimed in with 16 points and six rebounds for the Vikings in her final game.
Hannah Caudill added 11 points, six rebounds and six assists from her guard position for the shorter Bullpups.
