Dustin Depiano succeeds Chris Carr as Auburn Mountainview girls hoop coach

Chris Carr, who started the Auburn Mountainview girls basketball program when the school opened in 2005-06, resigned at the season and former assistant Dustin Depiano has been promoted to head coach.

Carr’s eight-year record was 124-33. He took the Lions to state four times, placing sixth in 2011 and eighth in 2007. He had previous coaching stints at White River, Yelm and Kentlake. His 19-year record is 281-200.

He is currently Mountainview’s athletic director and dean of students. Both of his daughters played basketball for him. Cait graduated in 2012 and is now playing at Lewis-Clark State. Aly, who tore her ACL in January and missed the last part of the season, is currently a senior.

Carr had this to say about Depiano in a press release: “I am glad to announce the promotion of Dustin Depiano to head coach.  The familiarity he has of this program will make a smooth transition as we work to continually build on the foundation that has been established here.  Dustin has already announced the hiring of Tim Nelson, former Auburn Riverside head coach, as a varsity assistant for this upcoming season.  We are excited to get two top notch individuals to coach for the 2013-14 season.”
