State baseball: Day Two live blog and results for Class 3A and 4A

PASCO — The last day of the high school baseball season is upon us as the Class 3A and Class 4A state championships will be decided today. As was the case yesterday, I’m going to post updates starting with the first game and ending with the last one, so if you’re looking for updates from the West Seattle-Auburn Mountainview game, look toward the bottom of the blog.

Here’s the schedule of games:

  • 3A third-place game: Kennewick 6, Mount Si 1
  • 4A third-place game: Kentridge 4, Kentwood 3
  • 3A championship game: Auburn Mountainview 7, West Seattle 1
  • 4A championship game: 7 p.m., Skyview vs. South Kitsap

3A third-place game: Kennewick 6, Mount Si 1

End first inning: Mount Si 0, Kennewick 0. Both teams go three up, three down. Connor Swift is the starter for Mount Si. Clayten Ayres gets the start for Kennewick.

End second: Mount Si 0, Kennewick 0. Kennewick has 1 hit. Mount Si doesn’t have any.

End third: Mount Si 0, Kennewick 0.

Top fourth: Kennewick 3, Mount Si 0. Larry Dewitt reached on a two-out single, then stole second base. He scored on a single from Alex Storaci. A bit of small ball to get on the board. Kaden Julian, the nine-hole hitter, added a two-run double with two outs later in the inning.

End fourth: Kennewick 3, Mount Si 0. Kennewick pitcher Clayten Ayres is pitching a no-hitter right now.

Top fifth: Kennewick 4, Mount Si 0. The Lions add another run on an RBI single from Larry Dewitt. He is no 3 for 3.

End fifth: Kennewick 4, Mount Si 1. Zach Usselman ends Clayten Ayres’ big for a no-hitter with a leadoff double and Joe Done follows with a single to drive him in.

End sixth: Kennewick 4, Mount Si 1.

End seventh: Kennewick 6, Mount Si 0.

4A third-place game: Kentridge 4, Kentwood 3

End second inning: Kentwood 1, Kentridge 1.

End third: Kentwood 1, Kentridge 1.

Top fourth: Kentridge 3, Kentwood 1. Travis McGuire’s double drives in two runs.

End fourth: Kentridge 3, Kentwood 2. Kellen Wilson’s sac fly with the bases loaded brings in Kade Kryzsko.

End fifth: Kentridge 3, Kentwood 2.

End sixth: Kentridge 3, Kentwood 2. Kentridge has 7 hits. Kentwood has 5. Kentwood is down to its final three outs. Wilson, Sims and Greene will bat for Kentwood in the bottom of the seventh (8,9 and 1 hitters).

3A championship game: Auburn Mountainview 7, West Seattle 1

Pitchers: Sam Hellinger, West Seattle; Shawn Guinn, Auburn Mountainview

Top first: Auburn Mountainview 0, West Seattle 0. Mountainview goes three up, three down.

End first: Auburn Mountainview 0, West Seattle 0. Both teams go three up, three down.

Top second: Auburn Mountainview 0, West Seattle 0. Mountainview gets one hit but strands the runner.

End second: Auburn Mountainview 0, West Seattle 0. Three up, three down for West Seattle. Wildcats don’t have a hit yet.

Top third: Auburn Mountainview 0, West Seattle 0. Three up, three down for Mountainview.

End third: Auburn Mountainview 0, West Seattle 0. Yep. Three up, three down for West Seattle.

Top fourth: Auburn Mountainview 1, West Seattle 0. Mason Cerrillo drove in the game’s first run after Kekoa Nahaku and Jeffrey Morgan reached on singles. Cerrillo hit a dribbler to first base and just beat the diving first baseman to the bag. The damage could have been worse: Auburn Mountainview left the bases loaded.

End fourth: Auburn Mountainview 1, West Seattle 0. Morgan McCullough gets West Seattle’s first hit, but that’s it.

Top fifth: Auburn Mountainview 2, West Seattle 0. Jeffrey Morgan drives in Tyler Friis with a sacrifice fly to right field to extend Mountainview’s lead.

End fifth: Auburn Mountainview 2, West Seattle 0. West Seattle with just one hit so far. Mountainview has seven hits.

Top sixth: Auburn Mountainview 6, West Seattle 0. Tyler Friis brings in two runs with a single, and Joey Cassano follows with another single that drives in another run. Kekoa Nahaku adds another RBI single in the inning.

End sixth: Auburn Mountainview 6, West Seattle 0. West Seattle gets one hit but strands him.

Top seventh: Auburn Mountainview 7, West Seattle 0.
