Ashley Allen follows collegiate coaching dream

Ashley Allen is following her dream to coach volleyball at the collegiate level.

She has resigned her position at Jackson High School to become an assistant at Nicholls State University, a Division I school in Thibodaux, Louisiana.

You can read the Nicholls State announcement here.

Allen had an impressive three-year run as head coach for the Timberwolves, including that Class 4A state title in her first season. Since her sister, Emmy, was a senior on last year’s team (and now a freshman at WSU), I asked Ashley in the fall if she intended to return in 2013. She admitted at the time that she hoped to pursue a career coaching at the next level, but it had to be the right opportunity or else she intended to stay put.

This is apparently the start she is looking for.

Jackson has hired Mindy Staudinger as its new head coach. Staudinger, a Marysville-Pilchuck graduate who went on to play at Montana State, started the volleyball program at Marysville Getchell in 2011. I haven’t received word yet on who has taken her place at MG.
