Root Sports to televise weekly prep football games

Root Sports will be televising a prep football Game of the Week for the second season in a row — starting with that blockbuster Skyline-Bellevue showdown at Husky Stadium on Sept. 7 (although that one will be tape-delayed).

Here is the complete press release and schedule:

ROOT SPORTS™ announced today that a second season of the High School Football “Game of the Week” will return this fall and will feature new presenting sponsor, Papa Murphy’s. The season kicks off on Saturday, September 7th with a clash of titans when 3A State Champions, Bellevue High School, takes on 4A State Champions, Skyline High School, at Husky Stadium. Following the Saturday opener, High School Football on ROOT SPORTS will move to its usual Thursday night schedule and will include nine regular season games along with WIAA District Playoffs and 3A and 4A Championship games.

The slate of games will be known as the ROOT SPORTS High Football “Game of the Week” presented by Papa Murphy’s will feature teams from throughout the Seattle/Tacoma area. Games will air on Thursday evenings at 7:00pm PT and will be shown throughout ROOT SPORTS Northwest’s five state region. Each game of the week will have a debut airing, as well as at least one replay.

“We were very pleased with the response to our inaugural season of High School Game of the week and are excited to continue the endeavor. This season promises to be exciting with a line-up that includes KingCo, SPSL, Seamount, Narrows, Cascade, Evergreen and Metro schools,” stated Mark Jorgensen, ROOT SPORTS Senior Vice President/General Manager.

Brad Adam will provide play-by-play and work with analyst, Jason Stiles. Adam has been with ROOT SPORTS since June 2000, and in his current role provides the sights and sounds before and after every Mariners game as the Host of Mariners Pregame and Mariners Postgame. Stiles joined the ROOT SPORTS team following a successful football career; he has worked as a Pac-12 and high school analyst, and will serve in the same capacity for Big Sky Conference football this season.
