I’m taking some personal time off this week (thus the lack of updated Seattle Times volleyball rankings for Class 4A, 3A and 2A), but I wanted to pass a long a couple of notes.
First, PrepVolleyball.com is out with its latest national rankings, with Bellarmine Prep moving up from No. 42 to No. 39 and Emerald Ridge climbing from No. 100 to No. 88.
You can catch Bellarmine in action, and several other of the top teams in the state, tomorrow (Saturday) at the Kent Classic — which features matches at Kentwood and Kentlake. After the first rounds of pool play, the top teams all gather at Kentwood. Check out the complete field, with pools and schedule, here.
Central Catholic of Portland is the two-time defending champion and is currently ranked No. 62 by PrepVolleyball.com.
I also want to make you aware of the second annual “No One Fights Alone” (NOFA) cancer awareness event at Eastside Catholic Tuesday as part of the Crusaders’ Metro League volleyball match against Lakeside (which should be a good one).
Eastside Catholic coach Angie McKinnell continues her battle against lung cancer and she organized the event last season. You can read an earlier story I wrote about her here. The varsity match is scheduled for 7 p.m. (JV plays at 5:45).
Here is the cool poster/flyer they’ve come up with for the event:
