Class 4A, 3A and 2A state volleyball rankings — week 8

And now the real fun begins — the countdown to naming the real No. 1 high-school volleyball teams begins in earnest this week as most leagues begin the playoff process.

Bring it on!

I’m anxious to see how everything plays out, particularly in Class 4A, 3A and 2A.

We are coming off a relatively quiet week as far as marquee matches go. Some ones of note: Snohomish beat Lake Stevens, Shadle Park beat Central Valley and Columbia River beat Prairie.

So there is not a lot of movement in the rankings for any of the top three classifications. In fact, for the first time, the 3A top-10 remains the same.

In 4A, Snohomish gets a spot back in the top-10 after beating Lake Stevens, which drops out after sitting at No. 7. Kentwood leaps past Central Valley into the sixth spot and has a big match Tuesday against No. 4 Auburn Riverside.

In 2A, the only move I’ve made is flip-flopping Selah and Ellensburg. Both won their matches last week, but my bad was missing Ellensburg’s win over Selah the week before. The Bulldogs, now No. 4, take on No. 2 West Valley of Yakima Tuesday.

And there are two more blockbusters this week  in 2A — No. 1 Burlington-Edison vs. No. 5 Sehome on Wednesday and No. 2 Tumwater against No. 6 Capital on Thursday.

So, here you go for this week, and get out and see some tournament play!
