This is why they play the game.
Few probably gave Liberty of Issaquah much of a chance against Columbia River in the opening round of the Class 3A state girls soccer tournament Wednesday night.
Top-ranked River, the defending champion, was 17-0-1 and had outscored opponents 83-0. Liberty (11-4-4) didn’t even win the KingCo 3A title.
But the Patriots believed, and pulled off a 2-0 upset.
We did not have anyone there to cover the match, but the Vancouver Columbian did, and you can read their story here.
