Football quarterfinals set

Seven more teams punched their ticket to the state quarterfinals on Saturday in the 4A and 3A ranks. Let’s take a quick look at the teams that advanced today and then the games we have in store for next weekend.

4A …

Chiawana rolled over Moses Lake, 52-13. This article from the Tri-City Herald talks how Chiawana controlled the line of scrimmage, but also made highlight plays. Chiawana earns a rematch with Wenatchee on Saturday, a team it beat 48-7 earlier this season.

– Wenatchee overcame an early 19-7 deficit, as noted here by The Wenatchee World, to beat Gig Harbor 33-31.

– Bellarmine Prep used a last-second field goal to beat Newport. You can read about it in our story, but the Lions scored the final 17 points of the game in the last three minutes.

– Camas had no trouble in a 63-38 win over Cascade.

That leaves us with these matchups as we move onto the quarterfinals:

Richland at Federal Way

Chiawana at Wenatchee

Bothell at Bellarmine Prep

Camas at Eastlake

3A …

– Umid Ramizov had a big game on both sides of the ball in Kamiakin’s 28-6 win over Columbia River.

– Eastside Catholic had a dramatic win over Marysville-Pilchuck, as Brandon Wellington’s 75-yard touchdown catch with 37 seconds left was the game-winner. You can read our game story here.

Mountain View handled Seattle Prep easily in a 55-0 win.

That leaves us with these matchups as we move onto the quarterfinals:

Bellevue at Peninsula

Shadle Park at Kamiakin

Meadowdale at Eastside Catholic

O’Dea at Mountain View
