Longtime Seattle Prep cross country coach retires

Longtime Seattle Prep cross country coach John “Doc” Robertson has retired after 21 years of coaching at the school. Robertson is a member of the Seattle Prep Hall of Fame.

Robertson started coached at Seattle Prep in 1992 and continued from 1994-2013. During those years, Robertson’s teams won 11 Metro championships (1996-99, 2003, 2005-08, 2010-11), 8 district championships (1997, 1999, 2003, 2005-08, 2010) and one 3A state championship (2000).

In a 16-year span from 1997-2012, Seattle Prep had a podium finish at the state meet 15 times.

Under Robertson, Seattle Prep had nine individual Metro League champions (1996, Jack Lovejoy; 2004-06 Max O’Donoghue-McDonald (3); 2008-09 Drew O’Donoghue-McDonald (2); 2011-13 Joe Hardy (3)), eight SeaKing district champions (2004-06 Max O’Donoghue-McDonald (3), 2008-09 Drew O’Donoghue-McDonald (2); 2011-13 Joe Hardy (3)) and three state 3A champions (2005-06 Max O’Donoghue-McDonald (2); 2012 Joe Hardy)

Unfortunately, past results for the girl’s side have been misplaced, but Robertson was able to provide us with a few accomplishments, which include Megan Johnson’s Metro and District championships in 1998 and 1999. Johnson also won State in 1999.
