Four local rugby players will try out for the Boys High School All-American team. The tryouts begin today and run through Dec. 31 in Tempe, Ariz.

Shorecrest High School’s Matt Brennan (senior), Michael Doquilo (senior) and Will Brennan (sophomore), and Bishop Blanchet’s Finlay Bruce (sophomore) will compete for a spot on the team, which will travel to the United Kingdom and Argentina. All four play for the Seattle Vikings club team.

“I am excited about having our players try out for the High School All-American team; Matt, Will, Michael and Finlay are talented players and great representatives of our program,” Vikings director of coaching Craig Wicks said. “In coming years, we expect many more players to have this opportunity as there is some great talent in the club.”

The team’s first tournament is in late January in Las Vegas.
