AP girls basketball poll

Below is the second Associated Press girls basketball poll of the season.

Sorry I didn’t get it posted earlier in the week (comes out late on Wednesdays as a general rule). I headed out early to that Juanita-Liberty game. And then yesterday I had trouble figuring out how to format it (it comes through to e-mail with lots of extra symbols, etc).

I will try to post it on Wednesdays going forward. There are some slight differences between the AP rankings (voted on by media across the state, including me) and The Times rankings (that’s just me, myself and I). The AP poll includes results from Monday and Tuesday games, whereas I put The Times rankings together on Monday afternoons, based on results through Saturday.

It’s always great to have another informed “opinion,” so to speak — and there are other rankings out there, like the ones Todd Milles puts together at the TNT. All three of those polls like Cleveland at No. 1 in 3A and Mark Morris in 2A. I have Lynnwood at No. 1 in 4A, as does the AP, but the TNT has gone with Gonzaga Prep. I have GP ranked No. 2.

The best part of about the AP poll, in my opinion, is that it also incudes rankings for 1A, 2B and 1B (top 5 only in 1B). The TNT also does 1A. I have my hands full trying to feel informed about 4A, 3A and 2A.

OK, so here you go and note that team’s first-place votes are in parentheses, followed by their record as of Wednesday, total points received in voting and then what the team was ranked last week:
