Bellevue’s Shane Bowman commits to UW

Spending all day at Garfield yesterday covering basketball, I spaced on posting about a local football recruit who flipped his decision and intends to sign with Washington.

Shane Bowman, a 6-foot-4, 242-pound defensive lineman from Bellevue, announced via Twitter yesterday that he would sign with the Huskies. Bowman had been verbally committed to Oregon State since last summer. UW offered Bowman last month.

“I think it’s a tremendous get for UW,” Bellevue coach Butch Goncharoff told the Times’ Adam Jude. “He’s relentless. He’s play hard every single snap … and he’s one of the strongest kids we’ve ever had.”

You can read the rest of Adam’s coverage, as well as Goncharoff’s thoughts on Bellevue star Budda Baker, who recently decommitted from Oregon.
