Rainier Beach, Garfield don’t move up in national rankings

Rainier Beach remains No. 2 in the MaxPreps national rankings, while it checks in at No. 3 in the Student Sports FAB 50 rankings. Despite three wins, the Vikings dropped one spot to No. 4 in the USA Today rankings.

Rainier Beach dropped in the USA Today rankings after Curie (Ill.) beat then-No. 1 Montverde Academy (Fla.) in the Hoophall Classic. Mater Dei (Calif.) moved up one spot to No. 1, Curie is ranked second and Montverde Academy slid two spots to No. 3.

Curie and Montverde Academy are at the top of the Student Sports rankings, ahead of Rainier Beach. Mater Dei is atop the MaxPreps rankings, as the Vikings hold their highest ranking in any poll at No. 2. This is what MaxPreps said about Rainier Beach.

“Beach has topped the 100-point mark eight times this season and has won 11 of 12 outings in the competitive Metro League by 20 points or more. ”

Garfield remains at No. 25 in the MaxPreps rankings, while it checks in at No. 44 in the Student Sports rankings and No. 45 by USA Today. Here is what MaxPreps said about the Bulldogs.

“The high school home of Seattle hoop stars like Brandon Roy, Tony Wroten Jr. and Joyce Walker (female Harlem Globetrotter) is 41-2 over the past two seasons.”
