Gymnastics postseason opens with league meets this weekend

Postseason competition for Seattle-area prep gymnastics squads begins this weekend, beginning Friday night with the Metro League championship at Bainbridge and the Seamount League championships at Mount Rainier. Four additional meets take place locally at three schools on Saturday.

This weekend’s complete statewide schedule is shown below along with results from last week from three meets held elsewhere in the state.

Friday

Seamount League championships at Mount Rainier, 6 p.m.

Metro League championships at Bainbridge, 6 p.m.

District 5 meet (Hanford, Kamiakin, Southridge) at Garland’s Gym, Kennewick, 7 p.m.

Saturday

KingCo 3A championships at Mercer Island; two sessions at 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., 4 teams each session. Top two teams advance to district meet.

KingCo 4A championships at Woodinville; two sessions at 3:20 p.m. (Eastlake, Garfield, Inglemoor, Redmond, Roosevelt, Skyline) and 7 p.m. (Ballard, Bothell, Issaquah, Newport, Woodinville).

SPSL 3A/2A championships (Auburn Mountainview, Bonney Lake, Decatur, Enumclaw, Sumner) at Mount Rainier, 9 a.m.

SPSL 4A championships (plus Olympia) at Mount Rainier; two session at 1:20 p.m. (Auburn Riverside, Emerald Ridge, Federal Way, Kentlake, Kentwood, Jefferson, Olympia, Rogers) and
6:20 p.m. (Auburn, Beamer, Kent Meridian, Kentridge, Mount Rainier, Puyallup, Tahoma).

District 4 sub-district 4A meet (Battle Ground, Camas, Evergreen, Heritage, Skyview, Union) at Northpointe Gym, Vancouver, 3 p.m.

District 4 sub-district 3A/2A meet (Capital, Columbia River, Fort Vancouver, Hudson’s Bay, Mountain View, Prairie, River Ridge) at Naydenov Gymnastics, Vancouver, 11 a.m. Note: Winning team and top two all-arounds advance directly to state.

Results from last week

3A/2A sub-district meet at Mountlake Terrace Feb. 1:

1, Shorewood 141.975; 2, Shorecrest 127.15; 3, Bellingham 125.15; 4, Squalicum 122.55; 5, Sehome 115.925. All-around champion — Maddi Krussow Squalicum, 33.45. Shorewood advances to district.

Greater Spokane League 3A/2A meet at Mead Jan. 30:

1, Mt. Spokane 171.95; 2, University 157.175; 3, Shadle Park 142.85; 4, North Central 134.075; 5, Rogers 74.575. All-around champion — Reigan Kamtmann, Mount Spokane, 36.15.

Greater Spokane League 4A meet at Mead Jan. 29:

1, Mead 169.0; 2, Central Valley 163.25; 3, Ferris 140.65; 4, Lewis and Clark 123.95. All-around champion — Jenna Schlosser, Mead, 36.7. Mead and Central Valley advance to district meet at Mount Rainier Feb. 14.
